WHAT IS THE ROLE OF CONSERVATION PROGRAMS?
The Conservation Programs Department accomplishes our conservation objectives by addressing the three central themes of the MDWFP's mission:
I. CONSERVE AND ENHANCE MISSISSIPPI'S WILDLIFE, FISHERIES, AND PARKS
Conservation Programs staff work closely with leadership within the MDWFP as well as outside conservation and outdoor recreation organizations to identify strategic solutions that address the conservation challenges facing Mississippi's natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities.
II. PROVIDE QUALITY OUTDOOR RECREATION
Many programs offer opportunities to participate in shooting sports, archery, hunting and fishing. These programs also work diligently to encourage participation by new users, especially youth.

III. ENGAGE THE PUBLIC IN NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION
The Agency's marketing program engages the public in natural resource conservation and outdoor recreation by increasing awareness of the importance of conservation in Mississippi, communicating the roles of different users in conserving Mississippi's resources, promoting outdoor recreational opportunities, and promoting our diverse programs and services.
