Shotgun Shooting Classes
MDWFP's Marksmanship Program will be hosting shotgun classes on selected Saturdays throughout 2014. These intermediate and advanced classes begin at 8:30 a.m. and finish at approximately 1:00 p.m. They are hosted through the cooperation of local gun clubs and a grant from the National Shooting Sports Foundation. These "free of charge" classes are only open to the citizens of the state of Mississippi. Four times United States International Shooting Champion, and native Mississippian, John Satterwhite, will teach them. The students' shot shells, clay targets, instruction, safety glasses, hearing, and eye protection will be provided along with a shotgun if you don't have one. Bring your own shotgun or use one of the schools' firearms.
The classes are designed to offer shooting techniques to the hunter that would not normally be taught in our basic Hunter Education classes. Please understand that these classes assume the student has attended the Hunter Education class, and is physically competent to handle a firearm.
This class covers gauge identification, pattern, choke, shot size and application, gun mount, Dominant eye, monocular vs. binocular vision, basic interception techniques, firearms etiquette, and range rules.
The following subjects will be covered in depth: gun fit, advanced interception methods, natural point of aim, strong and weak side coverage, the swing, proper sight picture for hunting, Skeet, Trap, and Sporting Clays.
To register for a class please call the Turcotte Office at 601-859-3421 or by emailing email@example.com. Classes are limited to 15 people per class.
Don't miss an opportunity to learn proper shot-gunning techniques from a 6 time gold medalist who represented the US in the Pan-Am Games, Olympics, and World Shooting Championships.
All classes will be taught at the Turcotte Education & Shooting Facilty (506 Highway 43 South, Canton, MS 39046) unless otherwise noted.
