Fishing ReportSimpson County Lake - 3/13/2018 1:31:35 PM
Bass will begin to move shallow as the temperature warms. Spinner baits and jerk baits may produce the most success this time of year. Try fishing off deep points and ledges.
Bream (bluegill and red ear) have been reported to be caught using worms and crickets fishing at 8 - 10 ft near the bottom.
Try crappie along creek channels and deep structure with jigs or minnows. Try trolling open water out from the dam should be a good area to target fish.
Catfish have been caught on cut bait near brush piles around 10 ft on the bottom.
Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Fisheries Biologists use various sampling methods to assess the fish populations in the State’s waters. Sampling results for selected water bodies are summarized in Reel Facts Sheets
