Fishing Report

Simpson County Lake - 5/17/2018 3:49:25 PM

Bass have moved out of shallow water and can be caught off points and ledges near structure. Try fishing with soft plastics and crankbaits in these areas.

Bream are in 3 to 4 feet of water. Try fishing for bream in the upper end around stumps or around shallow brush piles throughout the lake. Fishing shallow sandy points are also good locations for bedding bream.

Crappie have been scattered so try fishing along creek channels and deep structure with jigs or minnows. Try trolling open water out from the dam. This should be a good area to target fish.

Catfish can be caught in 8-12 feet of water. Fishing with liver and cutbait should produce the best results.

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Fisheries Biologists use various sampling methods to assess the fish populations in the State’s waters. Sampling results for selected water bodies are summarized in Reel Facts Sheets
