State Parks Careers


Careers in this field are dedicated to providing safe, family-oriented outdoor recreational and educational experiences to Mississippi's residents and visitors to our beautiful state parks. In this field, a person may find career opportunities in park management, construction, skilled crafts, maintenance, park security, food service, historical interpretation and housekeeping. Seasonal general service job opportunities are available, primarily through the parks system. Anyone seeking these positions should apply directly to the park where employment is sought.

  • Park Assistant Manager III - (Tishomingo)

    This is administrative and supervisory work in assisting the Park Manager of a state park in the overall operation of the facility. Work includes organizing and supervising park work crews. Supervision is exercised over subordinate employees and the incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Park Manager.


    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:
    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in management, recreation and parks administration, or a related field;

    AND

    Experience:
    Six (6) months of experience in work related to the duties.

    OR

    Education:
    Graduation from a standard four year high school or equivalent (GED),

    AND

    Experience:
    Four (4) years and six (6) months of experience in work related to the duties.

    Substitution Statement

    Graduation from a standard four year high school or equivalent (GED), related education and related experience may be substituted on an equal basis.

  • Construction and Facilities Manager

    The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is seeking to hire a Construction and Facilities Manager in its Facility and Grounds Development Division.

     

     

    Salary: $ 58, 755.01

     

     

    Job Status: Contractual

     

    Qualifications:

    A Master's Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field and six years in the job functions listed, and three years of which must have been in line or functional administrative or advanced supervision.

     or

    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field and seven years in the job functions listed, and three years of which must have been in line or functional administrative or advanced supervision.

    Expertise in reading construction and renovation plans, mechanical plans, site plans, surveys, electrical plans, landscape plans, site plans, and master plans.

    Experience in an administrative, professional capacity in an area of work related to the construction field and/or construction project management. Work must have included supervising and coordinating a variety of functions.
