MDWFP to Host 2014 Archery Tournaments for Mississippi Schools
JACKSON-The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host three tournaments for students participating in its Archery in Mississippi Schools (AIMS) program. Over 3,000 student archers representing over 200 schools will compete in North and South region tournaments and the overall AIMS State Archery Tournament in Jackson.
Archery is the fastest growing sport in the school system in Mississippi with nearly 40,000 students participating in the program in 2013. AIMS is designed to introduce 4th-12th graders to the sport of archery during their Physical Education class or a school team sport. The program promotes international style target archery as part of the in-school curriculum to improve educational performance and participation in shooting sports.
2014 AIMS Tournaments:
South State Tournament- March 18-19, Forrest County Multi Purpose Facility, Hattiesburg MS
North State Tournament - April 1-2, Yalobusha County Multi Purpose Facility, Coffeeville MS
State Tournament - April 15-17, Kirk Fordice Equine Center, Jackson, MS
