MDWFP to Host Pond Management Workshop in Forrest County
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and
Parks (MDWFP) is hosting a pond management workshop at Paul B.
Johnson State Park located south of Hattiesburg off Hwy 49. The
workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 in the
conference room at the park office. An hour-long presentation
will include topics on pond design, fish stocking, harvest,
vegetation control, liming, and fertilization. A
question-and-answer period will follow.
"This workshop will allow biologists and private pond owners the
opportunity to discuss management options to improve fish
populations and habitat," according to MDWFP fisheries biologist
Jeremy McCain. "This is a great way for us to provide how-to
information that can help pond owners achieve their goals."
