MDWFP & U.S. Forest Service to Host Youth Fishing Rodeo at the Desoto National Forest Airey Lake Recreation Area

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks' (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau and the U.S. Forest Service are hosting a youth fishing rodeo at the Airey Lake Recreation Area on Saturday, May 10.  The fishing rodeo is open to youth 15 years and under; registration begins at 7:30 a.m.  The Airey Lake Recreation Area is located on City Road near Saucier.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

Fishing rodeos offer a quality fishing experience for younger anglers in a controlled and safe environment. Rodeo ponds are well stocked with catfish to make it easier for participants to catch fish.  This event is a great way for families to spend quality time together.

Those seeking additional information can call the U.S. Forest Service at (601) 528-6176 or the MDWFP Fisheries Bureau at (601) 432-2200.
