Mississippi Alligator Hunting Season Expands - Applications Now Accepted
JACKSON - Alligator hunting applications will be accepted June
1-15 for the 2012 alligator season on public waterways.
Applications may be purchased only from the MDWFP website,
www.mdwfp.com/draws. Applicants must be residents of
Mississippi and at least 16 years of age.
For 2012, there are 6 public waterway zones with 810 total
available alligator hunting permits. There is a $10 application fee
per zone; interested hunters may apply for any or all zones.
Applicants must use a credit card for payment and provide a valid
email address when applying. All drawn applicants will be notified
via email within 5 working days after the July 15
deadline.
Also for 28 open counties, applications will be accepted from
June 1 - July 1 for private lands alligator hunting vouchers. Each
property must have 20 acres of privately owned surface water. There
is a limit of one application per property and special requirements
must be met to qualify. For more information regarding private land

As in previous years, MDWFP requires that all persons selected
for alligator hunting permits attend an alligator hunting training
course to participate. Training course dates and locations are:
Jones Junior College-August 4, Delta State University-August 11,
and Roosevelt State Park-August 18.
