Road Improvements on Theodore A. Mars, Jr. WMA
JACKSON -The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and
Parks (MDWFP) is planning road improvement projects on Theodore A.
Mars, Jr. Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Theodore A. Mars,
Jr. WMA is located in Pearl River County just south of
Poplarville. The MDWFP began managing the WMA soon after
acquisition in 2007. The primary management objective for the
900-acre WMA is longleaf pine restoration.
Theodore A. Mars, Jr. WMA offers small game hunting as well as youth deer hunting opportunities. Existing roads on the WMA have been used for both management and public access. In an effort to improve access within the WMA, the MDWFP will soon begin road repairs. Expenses for this project are being funded in part by a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
