MDWFP Invites Youth to OutdoorAma on the Rez

JACKSON –Come celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day as the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) and the Mississippi Wildlife Federation (MWF) host OutdoorAma on the Rez at the Turcotte Education Center on Saturday, September 23.  The event is open to youth ages 5 to 14 and will start at 8 a.m. The Turcotte Education Center is located at 506 Hwy 43 South near Ross Barnett Reservoir.

Participants will receive hands-on instruction in a variety of outdoor activities such as shooting skeet, sporting clays, and bow and arrows, and fishing for catfish in the ponds.  They will also learn how to reload shells, tie flies, paddle a canoe, and stay safe in a tree stand. Other topics include the importance of clean water and recycling.
