Memorial Day boating in high water areas

The Memorial Day Weekend is the traditional kick-off of the summer vacation season and outdoor recreation. Officials of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks encourage everyone to get out and enjoy our natural resources. However, boaters on the tributaries, lakes, and other waterways affected by high water of the Mississippi River shall conduct their boating activity in accordance with a “dead slow; leave no wake” standard.

MDWFP has an increased law enforcement presence in the affected areas to patrol the levees, promote public safety for residents affected by the high water, and enforce the wildlife laws that protect animals affected by flooding.
