Trace SP - Youth Catfish Rodeo

Children 15 years and younger are invited to a youth fishing rodeo at Trace State Park registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6. The free event is hosted by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP).  Event time is 9:00 am until 12 noon.

Pole And Worm

Participants are to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers. No bait or fishing poles will be provided.

The event is a good opportunity for young anglers to fish a lake that is well stocked with catfish which are typically easy to catch. Families are invited to come enjoy quality time together in a safe environment.

Entrance fee into the park will be waived for rodeo participants during rodeo time.  Divisions will be Boys 2-9, Girls 2-9, Boys 10-15 and Girls 10-15.  Prizes will be awarded for most weight caught per division, and single largest fish from all divisions.  There will be a 5 fish limit per person.  Judge's decision is final.  Tie breaker is length of longest fish.
