Rabbit Hunting Season
2013-2014 Rabbit Hunting Season:
October 12, 2013 to February 28, 2014.
Daily Bag Limit:
- 8 rabbits (regardless of species).
2013-2014 Season Outlook:
Rabbit populations are difficult to predict, but are generally good in areas with suitable habitat. It was believed that rabbit numbers were up during 2012, but summer weather and vegetation conditions may ultimately determine fall rabbit population abundance. Areas with an ample mixture of native grasses, legumes and other broadleaf plants, and low brushy cover typically produce the greatest numbers of rabbits. Given the long reproductive season and high reproductive potential of rabbits, populations can increase rapidly provided habitat is suitable. Rabbit populations are expected to be mostly abundant in areas of suitable habitat unless severe, long-term droughts are experienced during the summer.
