John W. Starr WMA is located in Oktibbeha and Winston Counties near Starkville. From Starkville, take Hwy 25 south toward Louisville. Travel approximately 10 miles and turn left onto Dorman Lake Rd. Additional Permit Requirement
The John W. Starr WMA requires an additional permit sold by Mississippi State University. All hunters must obtain this hunting permit from the MSU College of Forest Resources/Forest & Wildlife Research Center by purchasing online at http://www.cfr.msstate.edu/workshops/permit/. The MSU Hunting and Trapping Permit Application may also be used to obtain a permit and may be mailed with payment to the address on the application.
