LEGAL NOTICE

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) invites public comment on a draft environmental assessment for the proposed exchange of land acquired with Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act Program Grant funds at Copiah County Wildlife Management Area (Copiah County WMA) with Mr. William Henry Smith, Jr. The MDWFP proposes to exchange an 8.0 acre parcel located on the west side of Warren Hood Road for a 6.0 acre parcel owned by Mr. Smith on the east side of Warren Hood Road. This exchange would provide through an already existing road public access to 595 acres purchased by the State of Mississippi in 2018 and added to Copiah County WMA to provide increased recreational and conservation opportunities to the public. The draft environmental assessment analyzes the environmental impacts of the proposed land exchange and includes details of the proposed action and alternatives considered. Comments will be accepted through June 10, 2019 and should be sent to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, ATTN: Matt Roberts, Grants Administrator, 1505 Eastover Drive, Jackson, MS 39211-6374 or matt.roberts@wfp.ms.gov.
