CRAPPIE

The bite is on with several limits being reported. Fish may in deeper water along creek channels ledges. The creek that runs adjacent to Twittly Branch Campground and the Sunken Island are popular areas to harvest crappie this time of year.  Started getting regular reports of crappie being caught while fishing the grass.  The fish got scattered by the last cold spell.  Most fish should be at various depths from 3 to 8 ft.  By the end of week they should begin to move into the grass if not already headed there now.  The rocks along the dam should be productive on warmer days.  Heavy rains expected over the weekend may scatter them again.  New structures were added Saturday 2/25/17.  See the new GPS locations below.

RSOE Crappie 17

BASS

Bass should be targeted around deep structure and creek channels. Crank baits or spinner baits work well this time of year. Carolina rigs fished slowly can be productive.   Bass have been moving shallow and on the rocks.  Reports say the bite is good.

CATFISH

Catfish can be targeted with trot lines and jugs out in open water. Tightlining on the bottom with liver, worms or blood baits can also be very good methods for harvesting catfish this time of year.  NO CURRENT REPORTS AT THIS TIME.

BREAM

Bream should be holding in 8 - 10 ft. of water around brush piles or other types of natural structure. Tightlining on the bottom with crickets or worms will be the best method for catching bream early in the year.  NO CURRENT REPORTS AT THIS TIME.

A lake depth map can be accessed at the link below.
