We are pleased to partner with Jackson Mississippi Audubon Society to offer a week-long Children’s Bird Camp designed for ages 9-12 that will be held at the Museum during Spring Break, March 11-15, 2024 from 9 am - 3 pm! Space is limited, so reserve your child's spot today!
Experienced birders along with Museum educators will instruct campers on the fundamentals of bird watching. Campers will have the opportunity to engage in exciting activities that focus on birdlife, bird identification, habitats, and wildlife conservation.
Jackson Audubon Society will provide each camper with their own:
  • take-home copy of David Sibley’s "Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America"
  • a pair of performance grade Vortex Raptor binoculars, and
  • a wooden birdhouse kit, pre-drilled to National Audubon specifications!
Campers will receive guided instruction on how to utilize all of this equipment.
This one of a kind camp experience is designed to give young birders the skills to enjoy birding after the camp is over.
By the end of the week, campers will gain an overall understanding and appreciation for the natural world around them and be well-equipped to:
  • set up a birdhouse in their own back yard
  • use their binoculars and field guide, and
  • identify backyard birds!
COST: $200 per camper
Drop off time: 8:30 - 9 am
Pickup time: 3 pm
