Bring your blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the music and stargaze at The Den in beautiful LeFleur's Bluff State Park.

“We are delighted to provide a creative program of music from Star Wars, Apollo 13, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Jurassic Park to enrich an evening of star-gazing. We look forward to exploring the cross-section of MSO and the Museum’s missions,” says MSO Maestro Crafton Beck.

You'll also enjoy these activities to round out the night of astronomy-inspired art and science:

  • Visit with NASA content specialists for night sky viewing of stars!
  • NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Paige Anderson is hosting a Space Trivia table with questions about planets, moons, stars, galaxies, and NASA missions.
  • Astronomers and the public alike have been awestruck by the quality and depth of images coming from James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Astrophysicist Dr. Angelle Tanner will interpret select images and mind-bending science from JWST, using data sonification (interpreting images with sound).
  • Graduate Student Sumeet Kulkarni will demonstrate how photographers capture astronomical images.
  • Curious about telescopes with built-in navigation systems? Or, more of a traditionalist with “naked eye” astronomy? Best Buy staff from the Florence and Madison, MS stores will have a few telescopes for you to enjoy.

The night would not be complete without some fabulous food (not included with admission)!

  • Pig and Pint will be selling a limited menu of their award-winning BBQ!
  • The Museum's concessionaire will be selling food, drinks, and ice cream.

Rain Plan: In the event of poor weather, then the event will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 7:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.

COST:

  • $15 online in advance (advance sales end at Noon on May 18, 2023)
  • $20 at the door
  • If you have a ticket confirmation for the original event date of April 21, 2023, and did not request a refund, then your tickets will be honored on May 19, 2023 (or May 20, 2023, in event of postponement due to weather)
