You can also take home NASA stickers, Solar System trading cards, and info about current NASA missions - perfect for sparking curiosity and continuing the learning at home. NASA Solar System Ambassadors are a dedicated group of volunteers that share the excitement of NASA science and missions that expand our knowledge for the benefit of humanity.

  • Area astronomers and Best Buy staff will have a few telescopes for you to enjoy. Curious about telescopes with build-in navigation systems? Or more of a traditionalist with “naked eye” astronomy?

  • Dr. Nicholaus MacDonald, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi, will be bringing a telescope for you to explore the wonders of the night sky. He’ll also will be on site to share insights into his fascinating research on extragalactic jets.

  • Explore the Moon with StarMan Bob! Think you know your moon phases? Bob Swanson, instructor in MSU’s Department of Physics & Astronomy and a NASA Solar System Ambassador, is ready to challenge your lunar knowledge! Stop by his booth to pick up one of StarMan Bob’s custom “Lunar Phase Dials.” With it, you'll learn how to identify the moon’s current phase—and go even further by figuring out the time of day and direction you’re facing, all without using your phone!

  • Meet Engineer and Master Naturalist Rachel Moss and explore the printed circuit boards behind NASA’s Artemis Program.

This project is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
