Join us as we celebrate Mississippi Arbor Day through S.T.E.M. crafts, games, and displays focused on Mississippi trees and their past and present roles in our environment!

We will also be giving away live trees, spring bulbs from the Urban Forestry Council, and Nuttall oak and Cherrybark oak from the MS Forestry Commission, while supplies last.

Enjoy:

  • STEM Activities: Leaf ID, Log Dissection, Guided Tree Hikes, and more!
  • Special Interactive, Themed Exhibits: Soil Tunnel, Wood in Art
  • Tour the Museum's permanent exhibits, the "Attack of the Bloodsuckers!" exhibit, and hike the trails
  • Explore the Dinosaur Trail, the LeFleur's Bluff Playground, and Spotter's Adventure Trail

The Rebecca Cravat Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will dedicate a Live Oak tree and marker recognizing the Chapter's 60th Anniversary and commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. The marker will recognize Choctaw Revolutionary War Scouts who fought for American independence. The dedication will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Museum's auditorium.

After your museum visit, take Spotter’s Adventure Trail to the LeFleur’s Bluff Playground and see Maggie – a black bear sculpture carved from a tree on the Playground by award-winning chainsaw artist, Dayton Scoggins.

This event is included with Museum admission or with a Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation Membership.
