The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ (MDWFP) Conservation Officers have concluded the 2024 Operation Dry Water Campaign over the holiday weekend.

Throughout this period, Mississippi Conservation Officers issued:

  • 287 citations
  • 36 of these were alcohol and drug related
  • 13 Boating under the Influence (BUI) citations
  • 7,775 boaters contacted

The mission of Operation Dry Water is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities through increased recreational boater awareness and by fostering a stronger and more visible deterrent to alcohol use on the water.

“We had an outstanding holiday weekend, ensuring safe boating practices for everyone on the water,” said Major Chris Clark, MDWFP Boating Law Administrator. “Whether you are a seasoned operator or new to boating, we encourage you to make responsible choices to help prevent accidents.”
