Located just south of Meridian near the Mississippi-Alabama state line and built by the Civilian Conservation Core (CCC), Clarkco State Park has been a favorite Mississippi recreation spot since 1938. Situated on 815 acres of gently rolling woodlands, Clarkco State Park offers camping, cabin rentals, and water sports in a convenient yet unspoiled location, providing the perfect afternoon or weekend getaway retreat.

Directions traveling I-59 North:

  • Take Exit 126
  • Travel right on HWY 18 East for 15 miles
  • Turn left onto HWY 145
  • Pass through the town of Quitman and continue for another 5 miles
  • Cross HWY 45 and drive ¼ mile
  • You have arrived at Clarkco State Park.

Directions Traveling I-20 East:

  • Take Exit 153 
  • Travel on HWY 145 for 3 miles and merge into HWY 45 South
  • Stay on HWY 45 South for 18 miles
  • Turn left on to HWY 145 South and drive ¼ mile

Things To Do

Clarkco State Park provides a wide variety of recreational activities and facilities. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the picnic sites and pavilions, playgrounds, splash pad, and nature trails. Amateur and experienced athletes can get some friendly competition in at the tennis courts (with pickle ball lines), playing fields, disc golf course, and mountain biking trails at their leisure. Meanwhile water enthusiasts can explore the 65-acre lake open to boating, fishing, tubing, and water skiing.

Clarkco is home to the Twin Pines disc golf course, a moderately challenging 18-hole course that winds through a heavily wooded pine forest.

Nature Trail

Clarkco offers a total of 14 miles of nature and biking trails. A well-marked and incredibly maintained five-mile nature trail encircles Clarkco State Park, affording a close look at Mississippi flora and fauna. The trail is sectioned for shorter walks of less than a half-mile. There is an observation tower at the upper end of the lake.  Bicycles are permitted as long as they yield to foot traffic. 

Clarkco does not allow motorized vehicles on the walking and biking trails. 

Picnic Sites/Pavilions

Sixty picnic sites featuring tables, barbecue grills, and playground equipment are located in a shaded area surrounding Ivy Lake.  Three large picnic pavilions are available by reservation.   The pavilions provide the ideal spot for company picnics, family reunions, and church and school outings. Kitchen facilities may be reserved for a fee. 

The park also has an outdoor amphitheater overlooking Inspiration Point, which is a perfect spot for weddings. The amphitheater comfortably accommodates 60 people and overlooks Ivy Lake.

There are 3 age-appropriate playgrounds for children ranging in age from 1-4 years old, 4-8 years old, and 8+ years old, located off to the left near the park's main office.

A site for softball, baseball, and other outdoor recreational activities is available.

 
Tennis

There are two recently resurfaced tennis courts and four pickleball courts that are available for day or night play.  A basketball goal is also available.

Lodge/Park Office

The lodge houses the park office, camp store, and a meeting room that can accommodate 120 people. For specific information on facilities, seating capacity, and fees, contact the park office at (601) 776-6651. 

   

Water Activities
Splash Pad

Recently refurbished in 2024, the Clarkco Ivy Splash Zone offers a zero-depth cool water spray for young children and children at heart. The splash pad is operated seasonally and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is free; however, the $2.00 day-use entrance fee is charged.

Boat Launch

Clarkco Lake offers 65 acres of freshwater fishing and other water sports. A boat launch is available for persons with their own boats.  Daily or annual permits are available for a fee, see the park office for details or call (601)776-6651

Fishing

Clarkco Lake offers 65 acres of fresh water for fishing and water sports. The lake is stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Licenses may be purchased at the park office.

Boating

Pleasure boating, water skiing, and tubing are allowed year-round between 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. However, jet skis are not permitted. Boat engines are limited to 115 HP. 

Stay The Night

Developed Camping 43 sites, Primitive Tent Camping 15 sites, Vacation Cabins 20 units, and 1 Vacation Cottage plus two Laundry Facilities. 

Developed Camping

43 full hook-up sites are available for RV camping and feature picnic tables, grills, electrical, water, and sewer. Three bathhouses, two with hot showers and laundry facilities, and a central sewage dumping station are located in the developed camping area. 

Tent Camping

15 primitive tent camping sites are located just beyond the developed camping area. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring, and water is located nearby.  Primitive sites are first come first serve, call the park for more details (601) 776-6651

Vacation Cabins

Clarkco State Park features 20 air-conditioned units accommodating two to eight persons, each furnished with bed and bath linens and features a view of Ivy Lake, and has a private pier on the water. Reservations are strongly recommended.  Pets and smoking are allowed in any Mississippi government facility.  Cabins 6 and 14 are ADA-accessible. 

Vacation Cottages

Clarkco State Park also features one cottage that can sleep four people. The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom. All state park facilities are Non-Smoking.

This is a private, fully shaded cottage, located in a quiet area.  Identified on Reservation Site as CO18, Cabins.
