Fishing Report - Updated 10/28/2024

BassBass fishing is slow still. The bite should improve in the next few weeks when temperatures cool and the fish move back into shallow water. Can't say the fall bass bite has started yet unfortunately. Most anglers are fishing early or late in the day still, but the traffic has been slow. Try fishing with Texas-rigged soft plastics, frogs, flukes, and deep diving crankbaits.
Crappie The crappie bite is slow, and there are no reports from anglers. Minnows and jigs are working as well as anything. Experiment with different color combinations to find what they prefer. Try fishing around structure in deeper water. The average length this season was around 11-13 inches.
BreamThe bream fishing is slowing down from previous weeks, but a few smaller ones are still being caught. Crickets and/or red worms under a cork are the bait of choice, but don't overlook small spinners around cover and along primary drop-offs. Low-light hours early in the morning or late in the evening is probably still the most productive times to fish.
Catfish Catfish bite is slow, no reports this week of catfish being caught. Early morning and twilight hours are going to be the most productive time to fish. Try tight lining worms, liver, or Kool-Aid flavored chicken. Don't overlook hot dogs and cut/whole shad as good bait.

Fish Attractors

In January of 2022, MDWFP personnel sank donated Christmas trees in Lake Monroe. The brush piles are a good way to upcycle leftover Christmas trees and create fishing hot spots.
