Weekly fishing reports will return in February. Below are a few tips for fishing during the winter and early spring.
Bass | Bass should be holding around creek channels and ledges where water depths change quickly and structure is present. Jig and pig combos and soft plastics fished slowly in these areas should be productive. Areas along the dam that contain structure may also be holding good numbers of fish during the winter months. Spinner baits and crank baits work well in these areas. Trophy fish may be targeted with minnows fished under a cork. There numerous large fish at Neshoba but it takes a lot of patience to be successful. |
Crappie | Crappie can be targeted around creek ledges and deep structure at depths of 10 - 12 ft. Trolling in these areas with jigs or minnows should be productive ways to catch winter time crappie. |
Bream | Bream should be targeted at depths of 8 - 10 ft around creek channels and structure. Tightlining on the bottom with red worms or crickets are the best methods this time of year. |
Catfish | Try catfish in 8 - 10 ft of water around brush piles or along creek channels. Liver, minnows or worms are best bets for baits. |
