Weekly fishing reports will return in February. Below are a few tips for fishing during the winter and early spring.
Bass | Bass can be targeted in deeper water where structure is present. Feeder creeks or ledges along the main creek channel should be holding fish also. Deep diving crank baits or plastic worms fished slowly in these areas can be effective late in the year. |
Crappie | Crappie will be in deep water this time of year along creek channels and deep structure. Fish may be anywhere in the water column so try multiple depths until fish are located. Trolling in these areas with minnows or jigs are very productive ways to catch crappie during the winter months. |
Bream | Bream may be found in deeper water off of points and around structure. Tight lining on the bottom with crickets and worms will be the most effective method for harvesting good size bream this time of year. |
Catfish | Catfish can be targeted in deep water around creek ledges and structure. Worms, liver and blood baits will be best choices for baits. |
